Convert me to Mac - PLEASE!!!

I borrowed my boss's old powerbook for a while to try out osx, in short within a couple of weeks I had given it back and was happily back using ubuntu. OSX for me is too simplistic and high level.

From a basic perspective, i can certainly see the lure of a Mac, what draws them to people.
But whats funny is that its only since Macs have started using x86 chips, and hence have the ability to run Windows that their popularity, on here in particular, have grown. Irony at its best really. :p

People aren't as wery anymore, they know they will always have the fall back option of being able to use Windows if things aren't as easy or compatible as they thought.

Plus, they can now run programs like parallel to run those "Windows only" programs. Bootcamp allowed casual gamers and the like to see the lure of the MB (or even the MBP).

If Apple was still in PPC, I wouldn't even have though of getting my MB 2 months ago..

I'm probably one of the few that switched long before there was any sign on the Intel/BootCamp announcement :p

I remember being quite worried by the compatiblility of everything, if OS X would run my uni work such as Java, be able to open word documents or even such a simple thing as if i could use my USB stick with OS X. I still had my Windows laptop at that point though so i new there was always that fall back option.

I'm not suprised at how popular the OS X part of OcUK has become though, I remember it was just a few of us at first making the odd post now and again and writing making attempts at writing a sticky ... nowadays there is so many posts about people switching or at least thinking about it.

Watch out Windows fans (if there are any), OS X is closing in ;)

 I have gone back and forth between Windows and OS X quite a few times but now I'm sticking with OS X. Who cares if it looks simple? It certainly looks better.

I don't get application windows half-drawing themselves back at a snail's pace when you minimise and then maximise them. I don't get applications swapping out to virtual memory even though there is over 1Gb of system memory left. I like the anti-aliasing on all screen fonts. That's just for starters.

I don't even use Boot Camp or Parallels. I've found an OS X equivalent for everything I need.

ignore the above post if you have any sense ;)

Mac OSX is linux..... it uses the linux kernel (special compile of course)...
Why do you think the GUI for OSX looks sooooo much like KDE desktop......

Linux is universal... it can be compiled for 'allmost' 'any' platform and that includes the Xbox.... cheep webserver anyone?

No it isn't. It's based on OpenBSD. Does the OSX interface look like KDE? I can't see any similarities to be quite honest.
