Hi all,

I have just bought myself a domain and setup with google apps and working great at the moment. Up to now my main terminal for accessing my emails has been my mac which has about 15000 emails in the inbox. I have all these emails at my old email address and i'd like to move them all to my new inbox so it can all be unified under one email address as i will be losing the old one soon.

What can i do to get all the emails in emlx format onto my pc into Mozilla firebird so that i can continue to have the full archive of my emails. They regularly get me out of tight spots as they old a brief overview of my online life for the past few years.

Forwarding 15000 emails could be slow and messy?

Any tips/ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

There is no Firebird- do you mean Firefox (and actually into Google apps) or Thunderbird (the Mozilla mail client)?

You can upload email from Apple Mail to Google Apps with this tool - http://code.google.com/p/google-email-uploader-mac . Then if it's Thunderbird you want you can set it up to use IMAP with Google Apps.
You can upload everything from Mail > Google and then continue to use mail via IMAP to keep things in sync. You can export your contacts from the Apple address back and then import into Google contacts as well, then set up Google as a contacts account in address book.

Urgh, i meant thunderbird. I even opened it to check and still typed it wrong...

Thanks for all that, mail uploader is in gear. It recommend 500 at a time, but i thought 'to hell with it' and went for all, what turned out 20000 emails. Seems to be skipping quite a few and hopefully it will show me what exactly was skipped so i can move them in a more manual way.

If you got a link for uploading the contact that would be great, i will find it my self if not.

Cheers again.

Hmm well if you end up missing emails then you could try the Outlook importer after using a trial of Office/Outlook for Mac.

For the contacts just export from address book, it'll be under one of the menus. Then go to Google contacts and import the file. The add the Google account in address book prefs.

The upload and dowload to thunderbird has finished this morning and i have worked out that it has skipped 1954 emails but those are simply duplicates as that is the exact number of flagged emails i have which are copied to a seperate folder so all seems to be fine.

Will do contact now too,

Thanks again for all the help.
