Convert videos for Youtube

Hi,

I need some free software that will let me convert the WMV files my Canon A480 digital camera makes to something a lot smaller so I can upload them to Youtube.

I have a very slow internet connection here and my video is 640*480 weighing 400MB. I need to reduce it by a lot so any help would be greatly appreciated. Im not too fussed if the quality wont be as good, as long as its watchable.

Might i also suggest following these settings
Youtube Wikipedia Settings Table

Theres a table around half way down.

From what ive tried, those settings seem to keep CPU usage low and Quality very good (better than higher bitrate and frame rate stuff on youtube to do with the version of flash player and stuffs i thinks) and video smooth, size small. worth a shot
