Hey guys,

I have a bunch of AVI & MKV files that I would like to burn to DVD and watch on our DVD player, however I can't watch the AVI files on the telly as it's a bit rubbish so want to get them on DVDs.

Can anyone suggest a freeware piece of software that will enable to me convert AVI / MKV to a DVD format, and then ideally burn them to a DVD?

I have had a look at DVD Santa, but it leaves watermarks unless I'm willing to part with some cash.

Cheers.

Google suggests
ffmpeg -i foo.avi -aspect 16:9 -target ntsc-dvd foo.mpg
followed by varsha as an authoring program that leaves you with the appropriate files.

Just in case you feel happier using software that's free and open source.
