There are a million 'guides' on how to do this on the internet and they all seem to say different things so I thought I'd ask you lot as, generally speaking, you have been the best source of info for basically anything computer related for a good few years :D

What's the best way to take an .avi and get it converted/burnt to a DVD to play in a normal DVD player? Any software particularly good at this?

Tried nero a few times, always get an error about insufficient space on disk (which unless it's inflating the filesize by over 6 times is totally wrong- not interested in fixing this), so looking for something new.

Cheers in advance all.

I find nero 7 gives the best results (better than CXDVD), but the software itself is quite bloated.

What is your disk space like on your C:\?

That message usually appears when you don't have much space left on your main system drive where Nero needs to cache information about the conversion, which it removes afterward.

I use 'TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring'.

Never failed me. I tred DVDSanta long time ago, but all my DVDs were OoS.
