Yes there are various programs out there that can do this.... Nero 7, DVD Santa to name a few....
Depends on your setup, the slower your CPU the longer the encoding time.... I am on a XP64 3200 chip, takes roughly around 30 mins of footage take around same time to encode.....
WinAvi video converter. Easy as you can get, one or two clicks and viola. Depends on the size of the Avi how long the conversion takes, but 700mb will take about, half an hour.
No, you can't do much to the size of the movie files in either Nerovision Express or WinAvi. They really only let you add the movie files and then convert them to a format most DVD players can play.
Look on www.vcdhelp.com for details of apps (both free and commercial) that will let you do anything you like to your files, even to encode with higher quality than with Nero or WinAvi.
