Converting AVI To WMV Problems

I have a couple of avi files which I'm trying to convert to wmv, so that I can transfer it to my Zune.

Each time I try to use Winavi or Cucusoft Zune Video Converter, Vista x64 states it's stopped working and I have to close it, apart from one occasion when it actually worked.:confused:

Any ideas, as this is driving me mad, ta.
 
Is it just certain AVI files or does it happen with all of them?
I've acquired AVI's recently that give the same error on Vista 32bit.

Happens with all of them, although Videora iPod Converter works, but windows comes up with error messages and tries to close it, the software ignores this and carries on.

Weird, eh?
