Converting AVI's to wmv's

People are talking about this in the update thread but it's a a bit of a mission to look for posts based just on this.

I've tried using videora and it converts them to mpeg's which the 360 won't recognise. I've tried that windows media encoder and that just gives me an error part way through the converstion.

Does anyone know of any better pieces of software or methods to converting avi's to wmv's?

I looked and fell back on WinAVI. Seems to be doing the job like.

Nothings worked for me, windows media encoder worked for me but my 360 cant see them.

im trying it now, taking ages though, estimates 50mins left

I'm Converting a 100minute .avi clip.
1 hour estimation.

It's not too bad.

trying it now, 250mb about 25 mins

and its crap quality, too blocky

Ive just downloaded 'River Past Video Cleaner'.

Converting a AVI to WMV now so can't say anything about the quality but a 10 minute video has an estimate of 40mins so it better be bloody good quality.

I had problems with RPVC, thats why I've gone WinAVI.

well winavi worked fine, but i had writing plastered across the middle of the screen which i'm not sure I can put up with

not paying 30$ to get rid of it either

Well RPVC worked fine for me

Takes bloody ages to convert but im pretty happy with its result, it being free and all

lol
