Hi all,

Just wondering is the above possible?

I see adaptors are available but I'm not sure which 'way around' they work

I will be wanting to convert the Displayport input on my Dell U2412M into a HDMI port, so I can connect a Raspberry Pi to my monitor with a standard HDMI to HDMI cable

Is there anything suitable available for this?

Thanks! :)

As far as I know, there is no passive way to do this, so you are not looking for a cable, you'll need a powered converter of some kind.

They do exist, but no idea how good they are.

Hmm okay thanks

Will have to investigate into some options

Dell U2412Ms have so many inputs, why would you bother?

Have my PC in the DVI port at the moment. And wanted to connect a raspberry pi to the monitor also, AND get HD output from it

Is there any other way? Or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks

DVI switch? Pretty sure RPi can display over HDMI-DVI adaptors, you lose sound though, if that is applicable to your monitor

Yes sound won't make a difference to me as my monitors don't have speakers anyway

I've just found some info from a RPi site that sells accessories and it says for one of their adaptors:

HDMI Female Connecter A (The Raspberry Pi End conected with an HDMI cable)
DVI Male Connecter B (The DVI Monitor End)

So I could get that, then find a suitable DVI switch

Will have a think, thanks for the ideas :) Keep any more coming if you have any
