Converting DVDs to WMV with 5.1 sound?

This must be possible, but I'll be damned if I can make it work. I've tried DVDzip and imTOO DVD ripper, both set to encode 5.1 sound and windows is telling me the resulting file is 2ch stereo (in file properties). Now is the encoder just not working, or is it actually in 5.1 and windows doesn't understand? I've no real way of checking as I don't have a 5.1 system to test it on right now.

Anyone got any tips?

i dont think windows will recognise it unless you have 5.1 set in control panel.

Just found a 6ch HD WMV and that shows as 6ch, so it's not that

as a matter of interest why are you recoding to wmv? if its just to preserve the 5.1 then most divx programs will let you keep the ac3 channels.

I want to stream stuff to my x360, but want to use mymovies as well. That won't work with transcode so it needs to be in wmv
