Converting DVI to HDMI

Looking at samsung monitors. It seems many models have dropped the dvi port.

If i get one with only HDMI and convert it are there any issues related to this?

My 580gtx's have mini hdmi's on them also.

So basically what im saying is am i going to see any negative/positive results from doing this as compared to just buying another monitor with a dvi port?

no your not and right i would expect.

so no loss at all from just plain dvi to dvi?

no resolution issues etc?

The reason i ask is beacause i once had a bad experience with a media centre i made using dvi to hdmi to connect to a old samsung 40" telly. The picture was cack. Not sure why, this was a few years back.

i guess this sort of thing is a thing of the past?

If i use hdmi or mini hdmi to connect my pc to the screen i am going to get the exact same experience as using dvi (on gfx) to dvi (on monitor)?

If this statement is true i have nothing to worry about?

I just got the idea it was more TV/console based. The wrong idea i guess.

Well im looking at the S23A550H so your the man to talk to.

Im using it to game etc on nvidia so i should just cable up for hdmi and crack on then?

ps. the other unit i had scaling issues with was an ati hd mobo
