Converting music ?

So ive been told lossless is pretty good versus standard mp3, is lossless the best kind ? and how would i convert my music to it, thanks in advance

FLAC is the best format IMO.

Rip with http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/
Convert to FLAC http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

You CANNOT convert from lossy (ie MP3) to lossless, you must start off with a clean source (ie direct from CD). Well you can physically, but it would be pointless.

I would recommend CDex for ripping to .wav and getting filenames etc.

Both are freeware and easy to use.

EAC for secure ripping from a retail CD. It can also convert to FLAC for you otherwise DBpoweramp. Foobar can be set up to convert the WAV to FLAC while stopping for errors (don't use a program that will process through errors).
