Hello.

Been searching around and im liking the look of the small form factor machines (despsite just buying a coolermaster scout case).

My spec is as follows
*atx board (ga-770-c45)
*GTX460
*1 x 500GB HDD (Want to add an ssd soon)
*Standard sized PSU
*noctua nh-d14 heatsink (would sell for some water-cooled CPU cooler)

Would this fit a small form factor case? (obviously after changing the heatsink).

Thanks

Actually I believe the Noctua nh-d14 will fit in a Bitfenix Prodigy and possible a Fractal Node 304.

It's your motherboard you need to replace as you'll need an mITX board (or mATX, but that doesn't really count as small form factor imo).

Ahhh. I wouldn't mind getting a 128/240gb ssd and I have a mix match of ram adding up to 8gb. Im tempted to buy 2 x 4gb sticks and run dual channel.

My heatsink is a pain with the larger ram so I was thinking of a corsair h100i but I think ile just get some xms ram or something which isn't to big.

Atleast when I do chose to go to small form factor machine the stuff I buy can be transferred in to the new case (expect the board as you say). Will need a board to fit AM2+ CPU (AMD Phenom II x 4 965).

Thanks for the reply.

EDIT: the mITX boards seem to be AM3 now which means ide need a new CPU. Ide probably go intel i5 if I have to do that but I don't plan on changing the CPU for a while.

I've had a Noctua nh-d14 in a Bitfenix before, just make sure your mobo is compatible thats the bit which will catch you out.

Please don't buy an ITX Prodigy. It's totally pointless.

Seeing as you don't want to change CPU, get a microATX Prodigy and a board that will just take what you currently have.

If you really really want smaller then look at something like a Silverstone Sugo or Lian Li Q series, but be aware that will mean a CPU change and potentially a cooler, graphics card, and/or PSU change as well.

Yeah, I don't want to change the CPU if possible.

Just be wanting a little project. Theres nothing wrong with the scout 2 case I purchased about 3 months ago its just ide like something a little small to sit on my desk.

Any chance of a link to a board which supports my AM2/AM2+ CPU?

Thanks

According to wiki, the Phenom II x4 965 is an AM3 socketed processor?

[Edit] According to asus.com, the M5A78L-M/USB3 lists the Phenom II x4 965 as compatible. It does mean getting some DDR3 to go into it mind.

I do have DDR3 memory bud

Only thing with that motherboard is I don't think the make it anymore. I did have a look around last night

Between the "Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 AMD Socket AM3+"and "GIGABYTE 78LMT USB 3 AMD"
