Converting VCD to xvid

Whats the best program to use, I have AutoGK for DVD but it doesnt work with vcd's unfortunatly.

i cant remember the exact file layout of vcd, but in one of the folders will be a very large file. cant remember if it had .mpg or .dat extension. anyway copy it to hd and rename it to .mpg and you should be able to use that file in autogk

thinking about it some more, it may not work. I think I hit an issue before where virtual dub that autogk uses doesnt support mpeg1, so you may have to upconvert those mpeg1 files to dvd/mpeg2 first nerovision i think can do this and/or winavi an numerous others i an think of right now

I just tried it and it doesnt work.

I may have a go at your second suggestion, the only problem is that to many conversions may degrade the file too much (it also means I have to go back to XP to use nero and I dont want to do that.)

Anyone know of any software that converts straight to xvid/divx?
