Hi guys,
I have a couple of CBS nugget videos I'm looking to watch on my mac but I need to convert the files from their original format of .wmv. I did download one piece of software for the mac and selected the mp4 format but it only copied the files, their was no content.

Ideally I'm looking free software. If it would be easy to convert on my windows desktop then I'm up to suggestions.

Thanks

Try Miro Video Converter.

I had to do this the other day, although the WMV files I needed to convert didn't wanna play ball on the Mac version so I had to use VLC on my Windows box to convert them instead.

Surely vlc will play wmv files?

This. Other alternative is MPlayerX however its performance is pretty poor on the whole. Little reason to start installing unsupported codec packs when you can get a player that does it all.

Handbrake is also another must-have, though in this situation I wouldn't bother converting the video when you can download another player instead.

At the moment I'm using Windows Movie Maker (version 2012). It has an option to export in MP4. The other way I have been trying with it just recording the screen using Camtasia. You could do the same on Mac OS X using Snapz Pro X which is worth its price in gold. :D
