Hi guys.

I have a system here which has an Asus P5GC-MX/GBL motherboard with a intel e1200 cpu and 1gb of ram. I want to run Windows server 2003/08 on there and later other servers for testing and learning. Would this be possible? Any problems with drivers? For example the intel drivers for the on board vga and the Intel Chipset Software. Will you need server drivers? As i could not find any, or will it work with xp/vista drivers which are on the asus website?

Here is the link to the mobo: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=498&l4=0&model=1993&modelmenu=1

Thanks for the help in advance.

For testing purposes any system that'll run XP should be fine with 2003 (and probably 2008). All lot of hardware uses the same drivers for both XP and 2003. Your best bet is to try it and see if it works.

Another option is to use VMWare or Virtualbox which will let you run a virtual PC in windows.

EDIT: I've just had a look at you the downloads for your motherboard on the Asus website. It lists drivers for server 2003, infact they're the same ones it lists for XP and Vista (with a bit of luck they should be fine for 2008).

I could not find the vga drivers though. Do you see this as being a problem, or you think Server 2003/8 will auto install drivers for it?

Thank you for your help :)
