anyone use this piece of software?

i do a lot of DVD encoding of avi files and wanted to know who gets what FPS when encoding?

im running a Intel Celeron T1600 @ 1.66Ghz with 2gb or RAM on my laptop, and i get max 85FPS

the software supports multi core CPU's, just wondered what everyone gets averaging when encoding video?

yeah i get that different file formats will encode quicker etc, just wanted to see for a comparison, at 80fps it takes me about an 1hr do encode a 2hr film, i guess at 200+fps it takes like 5mins lol.

not installed it on my new i7 rig as i dont have a DVD burner lol so thats what i wanted to find out.

You got a new I7 PC but you dont have a burner?

Am I missing something here?

What are DVD Burners costing these days? £15 ?

And you have an I7? That same I7 as in your sig?

Riiight.

Back to the reply, Im using v2.2.2 and my Q6600 gives me roughly around the 65-70FPS mark.
However, if I convert 4 films at once, it still gives about that, dropping a little perhaps, but rarely less than about 50-55

Again, purely dependand on what Im converting... My own camera is set to record at DVD rez, while my wifes hioghest mode is an rather weird 500x400 ( dont ask ) so again, those will give different speeds.

For what its worth, My Q9550 and the Q6600 both convert a 1hr camera tape in about 15 minutes, although I have not in truth compared them, so there wont be much difference in them either way.
And my trusty Opteron 175 also converts my camera tapes to DVD in about 15 minutes too!

Wierd.

Using highest quality encoding, converting a 720p file, I get around 120fps.

It doesn't max out my CPU though, only using about 15% CPU load, according to task manager. I tried setting it to highest priority, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

Using a Quad 9450 cpu use goes up to around 60% tops. The average film takes about 25 mins to convert from D/vidx to DVD. I find this the most reliable/best and indeed the simplest software for this purpose. Also use for converting/recording my satellite recodings.

I've found the most efficient way of using ConvertxDVD is to convert 2-3 projects at once, which seems to just about push 100% CPU usage.

Takes like 10 more minutes than just doing a single file.
