Recreating Sesame Street characters with food - that's a productive afternoon right there!
Today I made Cookie Monster Cupcakes. Nothing fancy just a suggestion from a friend about something they wanted. I made it and shall now post photos of it to taunt him since he lives at the other end of the country!
The recipe is nothing clever:
Cupcakes: Standard 4-4-2-4 cake mixture split between 12 cake cases and baked for 25 mins at 160 degrees C.
Buttercream: 100g butter, 200g icing sugar - mix as normal and then add half a bottle of blue food colouring.
Topping: Some dessicated coconut mixed with the other half of the blue food colouring. Roll buttercream side of cake through this!
Decorations: Half a maryland cookie (or similar knockoff equivalent!) placed on the lower half of the cake. White chocolate buttons (flat side UP!) gently pushed into the buttercream/coconut topping. Use any left over buttercream to stick chocolate chips to the buttons to form the eyes!
As normal I forgot to take any photos as things were progressing but here's the finished product:
Tastes good too!
