Hi,

I have just checked the log from a virus scan and it indicates that I have 13,500 tracking cookies.

I have deleted all of the unwanted cookies from the folder:

C:\Users\MyLogin\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low

Where "MyLogin" is my administrator account to the computer.

After deleting unwanted cookies from the above location there are only just over 150 cookies left in the folder and these are known ones used for web site logins and forums etc.

There must be some other storage location for cookies that I am unaware of and the tracking cookies in this location are getting picked up by the AV scan.

Can anyone please let me know where else the cookies might be stored on a Windows 7 PC?

Depends tbh. Regular cookies or flash ones?

I am not sure what type of cookies they are other than my AV scan says it detected 13,500 of them. If I could locate them I would know a bit more about them.

It seems as though Windows 7 is storing cookies in more than 1 location. I am the only account on the PC and have the account setup as an admin account. I can find the cookies and remove them from the normal location as indicated in my OP but cannot find the other ones.

Flash cookies will be in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flashplayer [not checked so could be incorrect].

If you use Firefox or Chrome etc then you should check to see where they store cookies. I am surprised your AV software doesn't give you paths to files it has found.

I'd just use CCleaner. Should take care of all your cookie woes, and clear out the rest of your temporary files too.
