hi all

this year i am going to take on cooking the turkey. we have a large crown for me to cook (or ruin :P )

So im thinking the best way to cook will be fill with stuffing cover in some bacon and tie it up in a few places?

weight the bird and cook for about 18min per 450g

is there anything else that i should be thinking / consider.

Plenty of recipes online :)
Sainsbury's recipe

I don't go by the cook per weight either, I just cook until the juices are running nice and clear (you can sometimes cook too long when following per weight instructions and end up with a dry and horrible turkey)

I must say that sainsbury's recipe sounds very tasty :)

Tis the season!

Wrap it in foil, put some chipolata sausages around the bottom part and lay some streaky bacon on top.

In a deep baking tray with half an inch of water in the bottm.

Bung it in the oven, twenty minutes a pound plus twenty minutes, uncover it an hour before it's due to be finished, the bacon should be well cooked by then so remove and consume.

Half an hour or so into that last hour check it for the juices to be clear, if they are then it's done (probably won't be), if not give it a bit longer. Sorted.
