This will be my first cooking thread :)

Begin my cutting up a load of onions, carrots, and mushrooms. Cook them in a big pan until they are browned.

Chuck the mince if your choice in, I am using turkey mince.

Once that is all nicely browned, add 1/2 pint of water mixed with a table spoon of flour into the pan. Add a bay leaf, 3 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce and some tomato puree.

Simmer for close to an hour with a lid on top.

Add some tarragon and seasoning to the pan and then spread it all on the tray. I've used a aluminium barrier thing because my tray is too big :( Then add your mash on top.

Shove it in the oven about 25mins at around 200C. Although mine had to go in quite a bit longer to get it to brown nicely on top as the grill in my oven is pants.

Done! I'm not very good at coming up with stuff to serve with the main dish.

Having a nice pint of Kopparberg pear cider to go with it :)

It can not be a true shepherds pie if you use turkey mince, infact I would question that you could claim turkey mince to be actual food :p

Looks very good, I'd grate some cheese over the top of the mash before it goes under the grill and get it really crispy on top though.

Oh, and serve bigger portions with gravy!

I did this the other night, although I never use Tomatoe... thats for Spag Bol! Also I tend to just do really big portions of Shepherds pie, forget serving anything else with it :D.

Really?

Cottage Pie = Beef
Shepherd's Pie = Lamb
Fisherman's Pie = Fish

I'd say that was Bernard Matthew's Pie

My mistake, the recipe actually said lamb!

What do I call this pie if it is using Turkey mince? Maybe I could name it after myself...
