I was in two minds as to whether this is a truly "winter" recipe or not, and it probably isn't. That said, on a cold winters night getting back from work this took less than 30 minutes to make, tastes amazing (if I do say so myself), and warms you right up, so here we go.
Burgers are really, really easy to make; and when homemade are a thousand times better than you'd get premade. This recipe makes four burgers (or two massive ones as I chose to do
).
Ingredients
for the wedges:
Method
The wedges will take the longest, so start with these. Preheat your oven to 200oC. Simply cut the potatoes into wedges and place on a baking tray. Drizzle in oil, pepper and salt, and bake for about 20 minutes.
For the burgers:
Chop the garlic as finely as you can. Add all the dry ingredients and fork together in a bowl.
Next add in the egg(s) and mix well into a soupy type mixture.
Add in the mince, and mix together well until the mixture starts to bind properly (you'll need to judge here how much flour to use - it wants to be gloopy).
Next, using a handy burger shaped mold (I use a pastry cutter container), make the lower half and sides of the burger, leaving a hole in the middle, into which you place as much blue cheese as you want:
Then fill the lid in and press down hard, into a burger "patty" (of sorts):
To cook heat some oil in a frying pan (or heat a griddle - I unfortunately don't have one) on a high heat for a few minutes, and then turn down to a medium heat. Add the burgers, pressing down hard with a spatula to make the shape hold, and then cook to taste.
Serve with the wedges and sauce of choice!
