Cool games to play on my new rig

I currently have an Athlon 64 3500+ (single core - yay) with a Radeon 4850 stuck in it. As you can imagine it struggles with a lot of modern games. I have held off anything too taxing for the last year or so. I get a new i7 rig next week. Any recommendations of must haves for me to play in all their glory?

Crysis is the obvious one. Half Life 2 with that 'reality' mod (can't remember it's name). And a modded Stalker would round things off for starters.

I played Crysis on medium settings at 1280x1024. I am looking forward to playing it at Ultra on 1920x1200!

The recent Call of Dutys, Crysis + Warhead, Company of Heroes + Expansion Packs, the STALKER games, The Orange Box etc

I could be wrong but i think your being a little optimistic.

It'll kill almost anything but crysis though.

I've heard that stalker:clear sky is quite a hungry game, but so was the first one till they patched it.

Lucky you though, nothing better than that new PC feeling! woo!

If you havent played through bioshock, i can strongly recommend it. Also left4 dead is fantastic and really cheap on steam at the mo.

Played Bioshock and loved it, got the orange box as well. Going to have fun playing all the Valve games in high rez with the eye candy turned up to 11.

Would recommend The Witcher if you like RPGs, graphically it looks brilliant when everything is turned up.

This. The Witcher looks fantastic for an RPG and it is quite demanding at high settings. Give your new rig something to chew on.
