Hi Guys

apologies if this has already been brought up but couldnt find anything to match my query.. anyway i have the above case and currently i have a 5870 installed my top PCI slot which is JUST above the drive bays it was a tight sqeeze to get the card into the slot so left with no room.. lol i have purchased another in the hope to get 2 5870's into crossfire and the only thing blocking me from doing so is the drive bays and i have heard there is a way to mod the case to allow the room for my 2nd card assuming its by somehow adjusting the drive bays.

hope i have explained this well.

for information the mainboard i have is a Gigabyte UD5 and if pics would help with my query i can supply them.

You could drill the rivets out and remove the hdd bays but you would need a 3.52 to 5.25" converter so that you could stick your hdd in the top bays.

This is a very good source for Scout mods.

Hi

Old tread but i have attempted to drill the rivets out 4 rivets at the bottom of the bay i have removed however removing the rivets at the top of the HDD bay is proving a nightmare, any advice on what tool i could use to remove the rivets to get the HDD bay out?.

with regards to the HDD converter is it needed? as i have a 3.5" HDD and there is a bay which looks like it can house a 3.5" HDD above the HDD bay.

thanks!

Just took my side panel off and it would appear that the best tool would be a drill with a flexi drive like the one in the 2nd picture down.

Mine does'nt have another 3.5" bay above the hdd cage, just the 5x 5.25" bays. Are you sure it's not the 2.5" ssd adapter?

Hi

thanks for your response :)

with the link you gave me to the website on your first post which is very helpful! about half way down it goes to explain about removal of the HDD bay and just below that is a screenshot of what looks like a bay to house a 3.5" HDD unless im getting mixed up.

if a converter is required can you give any suggestions or indication on what to purchase in regards to this?

thanks

Something like this would be good. Noise insulating too.

Mine did'nt come with one of those, just the 2.5" SSD adapter. Looking at the picture i reckon the person whose case that is bought it seperately as the colour is darker. My SSD adapter is the same colour as the case.

You are most welcome. I think i will replace the side window on mine soon. With the front being filtered the only place dust can get in is from that side panel. Might try to find some smoked perspex and have a go at it. Might do the hdd cage with some sort of cover as well.
