ive never known what it does so i disabled it on my old AMD

Yes, the HTPC has it enabled (in BIOS, and in control panel set to portable/laptop setting)

It means CPU runs cooler, and uses less power (2x1ghz) When the computer needs to run full speed it jumps up to stock. Not overclocking.

never used on main rig cos of overclocking.

have done on a shuttle type to make it quieter as its a 60mm fan high rpm . much like the old delta's its abit loud.

im using it, and im overclocked..

doesnt effect stability for me, but does save a ton of leccy when watching films or on internet....

yep using it here to on my X2 6000 it clocks the cpu down to 1ghz when the cpu usage is less than 15% i think then when it goes over it bumps it up to 3ghz, all it does is change the multiplier from 15 to 5

While it's been said to be a no no, I used to run a 3700+ @ 2.9GHz with Cool'n'Quiet Enabled. Nice low idle temperatures :)

That's what I always thought - if you're not overclocked you should be running it - there's no performance deficit from doing so and it'll mean your fans can spin slower/quieter - if you are overclocking it you shouldn't run it because it gets really confused.

Is that just bumf from AMD to stop people from complaining if something goes wrong?
