Cool n quiet not working

Hi, I recently got a new amd machine. I like the idea of cool n quiet to save a bit of power. It was all up and running and cool n quiet was working fine. Anyway, when installing my motherboards supplied drivers/software I came across ASRock OC tuner.

Out of curiosity I opened it and I changed the multiplier to 18 giving me 3.6 Ghz in CPU-Z. I then changed it back to 17 putting me to the stock 3.4 of my 965. I closed the app and didn't tick "run on startup" so the multiplier change would not occur.

Now whenever I start the machine it's always running at 3.4 Ghz. I have checked the BIOS and Cool n Quiet is enabled still but doesn't seem to be working... I've also tried uninstalling the OC Tuner and going into the BIOS and resetting it to defaults but the machine still runs at 3.4 Ghz all the time.

spec:
Phenom II 965 (C3 chip)
ASRock 870 Extreme3

Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Assuming you use windows 7 it has power profiles. If 'Performance' is selected it will run at full all the time regardless of cnq enabled in the bios. Select 'balanced' and that may resolve it as balanced brings coolnquiet in to play?

You may have to go into balance and changed the min cpu state.

Cheers for the help I'll remember that in future, although I did do a system restore before you posted and it seems to have solved it. Thanks anyway!
