So, I tugged the wire to my power switch to clear a cable snag, and it cleared it a but to easy, and only had another inch of play in it. Result is that the power button is now blu-tacked to the side of the case. It's an Antec 900 so there's no way I can see to reattach it where it belongs (the whole top section is riveted).

I WAS thinking of doing bare wires....to impress/terrify guests as I "hotwire" the PC....but 2 secs rational thought came up with 20 or so decent reasons why that's a retarded idea.

So, apart from just leaving the switch blu-tacked (or bee's waxed or hot melted if I leave it there for good), can anyone think of a fun thing to with the switch (or the wires).

Well, my main issues with the idea of hotwiring, were that bare ends oxidize fairly quickly, they also collect fluff. But worse was the possibility of them shorting accidentally and rebooting the machine LOL

I'm just thinking that round here, people take saws to £400 cases, someone's Bound to have come up with a cool power switch idea.

That's a good one.

trouble is how would I do an emergenct shutdown with it.

You inspired another idea though.....an ignition key, should be easy enough to do, and will perform all the functions of the normal button.
Not sure where I would mount it though, me+hacksaw+antec900=ordering a new antec900.
Still open to ideas.

LOL, LOVE the idea of the reed switch (actually, I love em all) but I'm not sure they sell them to Northern Ireland yet LOL...bit of a history of misuse.

Still the idea of a bit of kit where a good kicking is the correct way to make it work as opposed to just the most effective, that's very Dr Who isn't it.
