Hey guys, I just got a ps3 and gran turismo 5...going to expand my game collection soon but I was just wondering whats some stuff I can do with the ps3 right now?

I've watched Iplayer, I've downloaded game demos but is there anything else I could do?

Are there any free games, I was going to download killzone 3 multiplayer but I need to buy a hard drive (I have the 12gb ps3).

Thanks.

If you don't already have one, setting your PS3 up as a Media Server is pretty neat and simple to do (the easiest route just involves downloading a program on the PC, running it, and it allows you to browse your PCs hard drive to watch films). Since you've only got the 12GB HDD it makes recommendations a bit harder, but if you can track down a DUST514 beta key it'd be well worth downloading as I don't think it'll take more than 6GB. I think Playstation Plus members still get access to the beta with their subscription, so it might be worth paying for PS+ as you'll then have it for when you've got a bigger hard drive. In-case you've not seen much of it yet, the thread here gets updated regularly with the recent additions, but what you basically need to know is you get a monthly quota of "free" games, cloud storage, automatic updates, larger discounts during sales, and priority beta access (we're due to get God of War 4 next afaik) for about £40 a year but it looks like it's still on sale for £29.99 a year atm.

Is the PS Plus thing why ps3 games are cheap?

The purple shirt place is selling not very old games for under a fiver, I got gran turismo 5 academy edition for £15.

Not sure actually :p from what I've seen the prices aren't usually far off from the 360 for most games, but I think Game's currently having a mass sale on their games so could be why. The digital prices of PS3 games still leave something to be desired though (as with the Xbox you'll often see new release games selling for £50-£60 while it goes for ~£30 retail), but PS+ will often make things cheaper. There are also some pretty good deals going on atm on the PS Store that you might be interested in (most notably the remake of Munch's Oddysee for £7.29 or £5.47 for Plus members, but for some reason they've not listed it and some others in the Festive Sale section).

I'd say buy the Hard drive as your next purchase and PSN+ which is on offer at £30. The good thing about you arriving on the PS3 late are all the good games you've missed which are available cheap. Have fun.

as above, buy a HDD, then PS+, and enjoy Batman AA, Infamous 2, Limbo, Ratchet & Clank, Little Big Planet 2 and RE5.

If youve not had a PS3 before, you probably wont need to buy a game this year
