Wondered if anyone has used this stuff/can recommend a good brand?

Mrs Fiesta is leaking coolant, I can see where it is leaking by way of damp area, halfway down the engine block, on the front but towards the left.

The leak is slow, it's used 600ml of coolant in just under 3 months.

The oil is fine and to my knowledge it's never overheated so I don't think it's leaking into the engine.

The thing is it's a 16 year old Ford Fiesta with 120k miles, I don't fancy trying to repair that myself, and I reckon a garage will charge about £300. Well say I have to put £30 of coolant into it every year, that's a lot of coolant id need to get through to justify fixing.

So I'm tempted to try one of these liquid coolant sealers, that you put into your coolant and idle the engine for a while. It's exactly what it's designed for and don't have much to loose by trying it?

If that's the inlet manifold above then it looks as though the coolant is leaking out of the plastic flange with the two bolts and then running across the engine block.

I'm not sure what the flange is for but I suspect the thermostat or a take off for a coolant pipe. I bet there's a gasket or rubber seal in there that needs replacing.

I've used stop-leak before (a long long time ago) and wouldn't go near the stuff. It didn't fix my leak and just made a huge mess, it can block up coolant passages and cause more issues. Personally I'd fix it properly and replace whatever gasket is leaking... or buy shares in a coolant manufacturer and stock up on coolant :D

Well I hate to say it.

I tried something called K-Seal.....and it worked.

Put it in idled the engine for about half an hour, left it till the morning, it's been a month and the leak has stopped and the car is running fine temperatures are normal.
