Coolant leak

Ever since I bought my Fiesta mk6 1.25 in September I have been having to refill the coolant tank every 10-14 days.

I took it to one mechanic who had a quick look and said it was the water pump that needed changing.

Another mechanic my dad took it to after doing a pressure test on the system said there was nothing wrong.

There is obviously a leak somewhere but I'm having trouble tracing it. I use the car mon-fri to commute 50m round trip to and from work.

Does the first mechanic sound right about the water pump?

I thought it was just a cracked hose but can leaks occur at the pump also? How much should this cost to repair?

Have a good look under the bonnet and see if you can find the leak. Dried coolant tends to leave a white powder behind, so if you see any hoses with powder on it could be a suspect.

Every 10 - 14 days is just silly, ideally you shouldn't loose any but I was worried when mine dropped over a few months!

If its taking 14 days to drop, then its only a very slight leak, probably when you're reaching max pressure. Still you definately dont want to run out of coolant!

If you dont trust either mechanic, take it to a third. They're judgement of the problem is going to be a lot more reliable than anyone here who hasn't seen your car.
