I've just figured out how to get to this part of the program to change clock speeds etc, now from my understanding i should click on detect optimal settings.

which have gone from 475 core / 580 memory to 573 core and 800 memory.

this is on the stock fan that is on the 7900gto

is this safe, this is the first time i've ever overclocked anything so I'm not 100% sure what im doing

also there is a box that says fan always on should this be checked?

I've got the BFG geforce 7900 GT OC 512mb GDDR3.
it came from the box as 475 core / 580 memory. as now after i clicked detect optimal settings it went to 573 core and 800 memory.

now the memory is literally at the end on the slider, the core is about half way but when i click test it says it can't do it? is that just a fail safe thing? it says it failed to run at any higher clock frequencies here's a screen shot of where im up to http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/7481/untitledrt4.jpg (click on the screen shot and it'll re-size to the correct size.

just done a quick 3d marks.

before i done anything on the gracphics card i was
3DMark Score 4508 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 1915 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 1900 Marks
CPU Score 1376 Marks

norw i've done the optimal settings and gone to what i've put on my previous post I've now got

3DMark Score 5136 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 2249 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 2240 Marks
CPU Score 1389 Marks

I presume this is significantly better

Now I've been told I can keep my memory at 800, but push the core up to 700? would that be wise? when i go test it says t says it failed to run at any higher clock frequencies as i put my previous post.

I think I need to push my cpu up but don't know how to do it.

what do you think i should do. being a complete novice at overclocking

sorry my 7900 is the 7900GT OC (the one where its overclocked from the box) but I've overclocked it a little more. so you think ive got a good clock out of the card?

with regards to the cpu i'll see about that in the processor forum

what would be a stable temp? sorry if it seems a little confusing and/or like questions, questions, questions, its just i've not overclocked anything before and just want to do it correctly without bodgeing up anything

any tips/pointers?

yeah I've got 800 mem, the core is 573, however if i go any higher it says i need to do the test thing, but it says failed. (i presume its a failsafe in the program i guess) I'm still running fairly cool. how do i get around this and also what is/has people overclocked the core to whilst still being stable?
