Ok,

So I installed my humble 7600GS today and immediatley started benching. got a decent increase in 3dmark05 and 06 and went on to overcloking...

I had already installed cool bits reg hack before initial benching, but I went in and found that it had the core was set at 350Mhz  and the mem at 400Mhz  (Supposed to be 400Mhz core and 800Mhz mem) So I 'increased' the core to stock and benched again and got better results(which leads me to believe it wasn't a software fault, it was actually set at 350Mhz)

I was getting higher and higher results with each gradual overclock.....

...So I thought **** it and clocked the memory at 504Mhz which should give me 1008Mhz (DDR) and it didn't crash! (only left it there for 5 secs and got scared and set it back down to stock) but leads me to think that the mem reading is DDR rate, and is therefore running at half the rate,(Surely running DDR800 at over 1Ghz would cause an instant crash or at least serious artifacting, even in windows) would this be correct?

Is this coolbits edition reading my card properly?

you got lucky there. :p

i used ati tool to overclock my 7600gs and like i said in your other thread, the mem would hardly budge before ati tool detected artifacts. but the core went upto 520 which is good. i'd recommend using ati tools built in "scan for artifacts" feature. just don't leave it on it's own - keep an eye on it. :)
