My motherboard is Asus M4A89GTD Pro USB3 and Processor AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition . The stock cooler temps are ok but the noise of the fan under load is too loud so I'm looking for a cooler under £30 that will go on my board , my case is a xigmatek utgard so I can access the rear of the board without removing it from the case , any advise welcome as I have never fitted a cooler myself

Well I have an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2. I got mine on one of those deals of the day, but they're £20 + Shipping and I find it does the job really well. Also it's quite easy to fit (there are screw holes, you screw it in, and the thermal compound is already applied to the new cooler).

Just be sure to thoroughly clean of any thermal paste from your CPU when you remove the old fan. There are special fluids you can get, but Isopropyl Alcohol works well. I used these special medical wipes my mother nicked from the hospital she works at (it's NHS so I rationalised that my taxes sort of paid for them). if you're unsure Youtube is a great resource for how-to's.

Can't go wrong with the Corsair Hydro H50-1 IMO. A wonderful piece of kit and keeps your processor nice n frosty. Its super quiet as all water cooling should be but it's slightly over your budget at £50 .You won't need another cooler for a long time.

Your Xigmatek Utgard already has a rear 120mm fan... Perfect place to fit the rad.
