im thinking of overclocking my i5-750 a bit, but im looking at an aftermarket cooler atm, ive shortlisted myself to 3 now,

Coolermaster Hyper 212 evo
Gelid Tranquillo rev2

it seems the tranquillo is quieter but the hyper 212 is slightly better at cooling, should the tranquillo still work even for a fairly aggressive overclock or am i better off going with the 212?

Alpenfohn Triglav seems a bit on the heavy side tbh, i dont think ill add a second fan on the other side, since the airflow away from the cpu is at the side panel and the back of the case so it wouldnt do much.

[EDIT] wow, didnt realise how terrible the stock fan was, at stock levels it jumps to 90 degrees after 30 secs of prime95, and would probably go higher if i didnt stop it. if id known it was this bad id have bought a cooler ages ago
[EDIT] after reapplying paste and reseating still hitting 90 :/

Remove the side fan and have a tower cooler with two fans exhausting towards the back. It's much better having the airflow that way. Also is there any reasons why you think weight is an issue?

well ive always tried to stick reasonably close to the intel heatsink recommended max weight, which is 470g iirc, even with a backplate, ive managed to source a second hand tranquillo for £6 delivered from a certain bay so ill see how that goes i think, if im not happy then at least its only £6

just to say im happy with the gelid, down from idling at 50 to 30 and down from 90 to 55 at prime95, a 35 degree drop! :) stock is goin to the scrappy for sure.
