Quick question: Will a cooler from an Intel 775 motherboard fit a new 1155 socket board directly using the same mount?

No I doubt it very much, There are usually different fixings that come with the cooler to cover different sockets but it will say in the advert, If it doesn't state it will fit then it won't.

I doubted it too, though the ad says "Compatibility: Intel 775/1155/1156/1366 AMD 939/AM2/AM2+/AM3" So I was thinking maybe all the Intel sockets were compatible and would use the same mount, the AMD ones being different. Trying to save few quid on upgrading and reuse existing cooler.

The majority of the 1155 boards will only take 1155/1156 mounts but all of the Asrock boards have mounting holes for 775 coolers too - see the Asrock Z68 Extreme4 for example.

C.C.O. (Combo Cooler Option)

C.C.O., stands for Combo Cooler Option, is another exclusive hardware design on ASRock boards. C.C.O. provides the flexible options to adopt different CPU cooler types and matches your socket LGA775, LGA1155 / LGA1156 CPU cooler in the respective holes. Once again, ASRock has successfully expanded the utilization of PCB by the exclusive C.C.O. design.

OK, thanks for that. I'm getting an Asus P67 Sabertooth, so will get a new cooler to go with it.

Cheers for the info.

Yeah you can get some decent coolers for a very little amount of money anyways.

AC Freezer 7 Pro, Coolermaster Hyper 212+, Gelid Tranquillo, Corsair A50.

There are some coolers who's brackets will fit multiple intel sockets, im using a prolimatech megahelims. Each corner of the bracket has 3 holes, one for s775., 1155/6 and 1366. Most manufacturers will have brackets for the newer sockets, means that you can keep your current cooler and just get the new bracket. I had to do this with my TRUE when i switched from s775 to 1366.

I was thinking about getting a bracket, but can't find the box for the old cooler, so don't know what make it is now. Still they are cheap enough, though wanted to think I was being thrifty and re-use the the one I got.

Then again I'd rather spend the extra than find I can't built it because the cooler won't fit when the other bits all arrive.

New one is ordered now, thanks for all the info.
