I think its probably rubbing on something. Its working fine though. Do I need to replace this or can I fix it? Its a RADEON 9800 PRO,

OR

Bugger it and just replace it. Hardly play any games but do watch films, can one of the experts reccomend a new one for around £100. Needs to be compatible with Motherboard MS-7030.

Many Thanks!

I'd give it a good clean first - be careful.

If you hadn't thought about investing in a new card until you heard the ticking then you probably are happy with existing performance.

If looking for a reasnoble cost improvement then ,AGP slot - if I read you motherboard correctly - limits choice somewhat . Obviously there are cards available but if your not using except for gen comp work and films seems a waste to go for a 'top' card . ; I'd probably go for something like a second hand 7600gt or the Ati equivalent

I have assumed when replying that your not trying to watch HD movies on your p.c. - if mistaken please advise

Where might I get one of those then?

I think it uses plastic/metal clips. If you squeeze them together they should just pop through the hole. Needle nose pliers are good for this.

The thermal paste might hold it fairly tightly so you may need to use a hair dryer to warm it up a bit :)

Thanks mate will give this a go! :)

Have you tried lubricating the fan with a tiny bit of wd40? Works sometimes :)

To be honest geezer, that fan is shafted got home last night and turned it on and ticking has got louder. Tried taking the fan off but have no idea how to remove it in all honestly so have just gone for Raider X's suggestion and bought the 2600 :)
