Hi

First post, so apologies for ignorance in advance!

I am planning to get a 3570k as an upgrade to my current setup.

The case I have is a NZXT beta and the cooler clearance is only 155mm which rules out some of the bigger heatsinks.

Currently I have a q6600 at 3ghz with an artic cooler freezer 7. I'd hope to overclock the 3570k as I'll playing FSX.

Looking at whats available it seems these are within the height:

Zalman CNPS9900
Thermalright Macho
Scythe Ninja

Any thoughts on which is suitable for overclocking. I know there are the watercool options like the H80 but am anxious about leaks (probably unfounded)

Thanks for your help

Hi,

With a closed loop watercooler like the H80 there is a very low chance of a leak, even if it did leak there is a chance your hardware would actually be fine.

Changing graphics cards a lot in my pc and moving tubes around a lot caused my custom watercooling to leak, there was water all over my 7850 graphics card, whilst it was on! I dried it out and it works perfectly fine. I also managed to do the same with a GTX 460, again worked fine... I don't test graphics cards in my own PC anymore... :)

Anyway, the point is I would not worry about leaks! :)

Welcome Mate,

The Macho is a great cooler. Perfect for overclocking. That'd be my choice.

Like you say the H80 is an option but the tend to be expensive. Your Fear are unfounded, i have heard no sotires of leaking and i myself have owned a H50 for a year with no issues, though have recently replaced it.

The Macho is a good choice. I have my gf's build in my old NZXT beta. Horrible to cable manage but not bad for cooling.
