Hey there,

Just invested in a i5 2500k for my first build and was wondering which aftermarket CPU coolers are currently regarded as the 'best'. Not looking to spend too much, ideally around £20 mark.

From my vague knowledge/other peoples recommendations in other threads seems like these are some of the better options:

Akasa AK-CC4005SP01 Venom Nano CPU Cooler £19.98 (this week only)
Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler £24.98
Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler £25.99

Would rather spend a little less than the last 2, but if its worth the money then could be persuaded. Any other recommendations?

Also is there much difference between different thermal pastes, or will they all do the job well?

Thanks

With the Gelid it says the following:

'The multi-award winning high performance GC-2 thermal compound is already included in the package. '

Is it still recommended to get some Arctic Silver or similar? Or will this work alright?

Unless you want to lose and extra degree or 2 it's fine. Be warned though you dont get much, probably enough for 3-5 applications only

Anybody seen any comparisons of the Gelid to a Tuniq Tower Extreme?

I'm trying my darndest to find a way to get a 1156 bracket to the UK (would cost £23 posted form a US store, lol!), but if not, getting a £25 replacement will have to happen.

I thought the 1155 bracket would work with the 1156? That's if you already have a 1155 one.

The 1156 and 1155 brackets are one and the same for the Tuniq, I just can't find any stockists in the UK :(

Another vote for the Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler, I used one on one of my friends AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1090T builds, superb cooler performance for the price.

I'm using the Thermalright Silver Arrow but it's twice as expensive.
