Hi,

Planning up a new system.

Was looking at getting a Tuniq Tower for cooling a Q6600.

Anything better out there? How loud is the Tuniq? Anything quieter with the same cooling potential?

Thanks!

From what I've read on here, the thermalright is only good if the base on it is flat (sometimes it isn't) I've also read the tuniq is awkward to fit.
I'd suggest the Sythe Ninja (I'm using the Mine' with a 120mm Yate Loon DS12L)

tuniq isnt hard to fit at all really, its quiet on low but i can hear it over the rest of my system on 50%, didnt notice too much of a temp difference between them so ive got it on as low as it will go

I love my tuniq, easy to fit (need mobo out of the case tho if u have a bottom mounted psu) idle temps at 28ºC and have the fan at 1000rpm or less and cant hear it (actually i notice no diff in CPU temp even if i turn the fan off tho i keep it on to help airflow in the case).

Just work out before u reinstall the mobo in the case how u are going to plug any tricky wires back in ;)

Looking at either a coolermaster Cosmos or Antec P190 so there should be plenty of space for sorting the wires :D

(If i go with the latter case, the side fan may have to go tho.)

I have the Tuniq Tower and the Cosmos (this is a big case !) with a Q6600. Fit the tower before you put the board in the case, other wise it'll be a right bi*ch (as I found out when reseating mine due to cr*ppy temps). I'm still not totally happy with my CPU core temps though, which are 44, 46, 44 and 44 idle with an overclock at 3GHZ. Don't notice much difference (except noise) with an increase in fan speed on the tower (I'm running it at 1500 rpm).

Lee my idle temps were about the same at current OC, I have just lapped my quad and TT and temps have dropped 6 degrees (ave) on idle and load (hopefully will drop further when AS5 settled in), so would recommend lapping.
