Can anyone recommend a cooler for a Ryzen 5 3600. I'll be doing some chia mining so the cpu will be quite active.
It has the stock cooler on at the moment and the temp is around 75 and i'm not pushing it hard

Thanks

I have a Kraken X52 240mm AIO at the moment but it must be nearing 5 years of age soon, so thinking I might go back to basics and get a HSF instead. Getting worried the AIO will break/leak before I proactively replace it.

I have been out the game for a while but think the Noctua NH-U12S is a very popular mid-ranger (£60) and preforms well. However I think they have released a baby brother version for less and it seems to match/beat the U12S performance - the Noctua NH-U12S Redux (£45).

Thanks I'll take a look at that one. I did think of water cooling but as you also worried about leaks

It's a worry you will almost certainly never have to deal with. NZXT made some pretty shoddy software for mine but it's a lot better now, the AIO itself has been very good and I still think it makes one of the best looking AIO water blocks (infinity glass effect).

For me, I could replace it with a decent HSF for <£50 or spend another >£100 on getting a decent AIO replacement. I do need to rethink my RGB and fan set up though :D.......

are water cooler generally better for getting the temps down better than a decent HSF ?
Top air coolers can compete with aio coolers like anything you need airflow, what case do you have ?

Temps look ok for ryzen cpu so adding a better cooler will improve things.

Firstly for a 3600, it is an overkill even with mining at 75ºC but good idea to replace the stock cooler because you'll soon realise the difference

140mm will be best for silent operations but make sure you check for clearance on your Enermax case

I have an AIO setup as a temporary solution with 2x120mm static pressure fans at low RPM, reasonably silent but noticeable if you are close to the case. Ultimately a good air cooler will compete with an AIO and you are really deciding where you want heat to be concentrated. If you already have good airflow in your case, then it makes less of a difference

Finally decided on a Noctua NH-U12S redux from the forest shop for £44.
Thanks for your replies they did give me some good pointers.
