Hi all,

I am after a new cooler for my X1900XT as I still have the stock cooler and it's far too noisy. There are a whole range of coolers available so could someone please recommend one for me.

I have my eyes in the Zalman VF900cu??

Essentially I want it to be quiter than the stock cooler however it does not have to be completely silent as my Lian-Li PC-7 has a few 120mm Fans that make a small bit of noise as does my Artic Freezer Pro.

Many Thanks in Advance

It's not crap, it's just you. It cools slightly better than stock cooler although it doesn't exhaust it out, and is much quieter. At 1800rpm it's silent.

The HR-03 is a better cooler though.

vf-900cu was crap, even at max fan speed it used to hit 70c with my gpu at 1.300v at 625mhz core speed.

the hr-03 goes up to 58c at 1.400v at 688mhz gpu clock. id say thats a massive difference.

although the vf900cu ran brilliantly well on my 7600gt and 7900gs. probably cuz of the lower heat load to deal with.

vf-900cu is a very good cooler, I have overclocked my x1950 pro and it runs silent, 39 idle 55 max load.

hah, x1950pro is 80nm and sucks up around 55w less than x1900xt does in power. so your heat level will be nearly non existant compared to the x1900xt. thats why the cooler works well.

vf900 is good but not when it comes to being used with the x1900xt or other super high heat output cards.

you can slap on a 12cm fan onto the hr-03. just that you have to slap it on at an angle. very easy to do. akasa amber is good to use.
