Well, I am fairly positive that this wont need much introduction its the 212X, the successor to the 212 EVO which has a fantastic reputation as being one of the most badass things you can buy for a computer for under £50.

We will have stock midway through next week.

The latest in the extremely popular Hyper 212 series, Cooler Master’s Hyper 212X is based on the same patented CDC Quad heatpipe array as the 212 EVO but features several improvements that boost performance and further reduce noise. Thanks to our brand new Smart Engine and POM bearing, the 212X is incredibly durable and will virtually last a lifetime.

Positioned in a 45 degree angle and surrounding the heatpipe, each fin-blade features X-shaped vents that create areas of high and low air pressure, resulting in several controlled vortices. These small and chaotic turbulences produce strong gusts that reduce overall airflow but improve airflow where it matters the most – next to the heatpipes.

Funnel shaped aluminum fins and a series of perforated dimples guide the airflow towards the heatpipes. Specially designed X-Vents, that act similar to tiny airplane wings and prevent deadspots behind and between heatpipes. The combination of both of these patent technologies results in notably higher airflow over the heatpipes and the adjacent fin area, which ultimately reduces CPU temperatures.

So what's the main difference between this 212X and the Evo? Just the X-vents and the fan? I'd much like to see a benchmark comparing this cooler to it's older sibling. Time to hit up Youtube.

$70 for that? no thanks.

212X is budget cooler and for such 1 fan is perfectly enough. If looking to spend 2x as much you might as well look at others.

btw you can do the same with standard X, there are 2 sets of mounting brackets, so 1 spare fan and you're set.

Making the heat sink available in different colours i.e black and white would make this a more attractive proposition.

At the moment I have the 212 Evo so it would be interesting to see how this stacks up against it, but either way I wouldn't plan on "upgrading" to this new revision.

ah its not on my price list. perhaps a region specific sku.

as mentioned, for more money its probably worth considering alternatives anyway.

I doubt its any better than my £20 Raijintek Themis, 1.30vlts, 4.5Ghz = 28c idle, 75c real bench stress test.

..seriously underrated coolers

yeah the raijintek heatsinks are really fantastic for the money, but the 212 evo is the best selling £30 heatsink on the market so when this takes over from it, it will replace it.

not disputing that the raijintek heatsinks perform well/are more affordable because I would rather you guys buy one of them anyway :D

there will always be people who are lead by reviews and CoolerMaster really do a lot when it comes to making products which meet review standards well.

they are hard to fault in my book even if there are more affordable options available on the market.

Yep, I got me one of those. I had read it performed better than the EVO and with a saving of 10 sheets, it was a no brainer.
