Hello,

I'm looking at getting a Be quiet! Black Pure Base 500DX and pairing it with an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240. Has anyone tried this setup with the radiator mounted on the top of the case and have you encountered any problems with clearance on the motherboard for the RAM? I was toying with the idea of getting some RGB RAM however it looks like the additional height of it might cause issues with hitting the cooler, but it's very difficult to tell from the images I can find.

Thanks

Found this video of that case and cooler. (jump to 6.10)

Not sure about the hight of the RAM though, so you will have to be carefull with your selection. Low profile should be fine though going by the vid.

Hope this helps.

I've got a BeQuiet PureBase 600 and while it's not exactly the same case they're pretty similar in terms of space at the top.

I had issue with clearance, not on the ram but on the (tall) motherboard heatsinks where it was actually preventing my rad and fans to fit in properly. RAM would probably be fine in most setups although I'd edge towards lower profile. The 500 looks like it will have the same issues imo.

That video from freddie is too dark imo so here's one of the FX, same case just more rgb...

Agree that the video is a bit dark, but was the only one i could find with that case/cooler/RGB RAM. :)

Good point about the motherboard heatsinks.

Answered my own question - it fits! I can't really show a picture of it however I'd say there's about 1cm clearance from the top of the RAM to the cooler (although I'm using my finger to guage that as I can't actually measure properly!) and slightly more to the top of the heatsink. I used Corsair Vengeance LPX which is 31mm high and an MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk WIFI DDR4 board. I'd probably have gotten away with the RGB variant of the RAM however due to the placement of the motherboard cable and where my PC sits I doubt I'd have seen much of it anyway. Plus I got the ARGB version of the cooler so there's some lighting from that anyway.

Thanks for the assistance!
