Anyone intrested in cooling down their X1950 read on

D/L the 6.9 Cats or better the 6.9's with a modded original control panel
You will need to Hack the driver "inf" files (add x1950xtx lines from you drivers supplied on the CD) or search for the ones already posted on this forum.

D/L Ati tool 0.25 beta16pre3.exe and dissable all the X1000 options in the settings, You can now use the fan control to set sensible speeds while staying quiet. The default ATI setting is 13% fan speed up to 77c....Crazy

The Card runs tiers of performance Desktop/3D/Overdrive the drivers/bios switch these along with extra volts, You will only get the desktop and 3D settings with the old control panel (with the overdrive tab clicked)

If You need More performance You will have to run the CCC with Your choice of Overdrive settings

Tip, Don't mess with any settings in Atitool We are Just using it to allow temperature monitoring and Fan control, Sure I read somewhere on my travels there is some sort of issue with NF4 motherboards (I experienced this Myself) and X1950's but had no time to look into it...Just thought It might help someone

You should now run in the 40c in desktop instead of 60/70c

Bit Sad to need to have to do this on a new card, but there you go ;)

Well, no questions so either no one is bothered about the temps or "Loadsamoney" has talked everyone out of buying the X1950XTX... :D

I think the x1950xtx will be around for 6 months and you will see ATI developing drivers to really make it shine, Remember It has not officially had any drivers other than the early ones it shipped with !
1900xt's apparently are out of production now so it is the future for ATI, Sure It's money wasted in comparison to a HIS X1900XT if You are going to drop it into a Mid range AMD 64 System with no intention of upgrading for the next Year and You run 1280x1024 resolution.

x1950 is pointless, you can get the GX2 for about £6 more, and it totally destroys it, the x1950 aint shifting as its just an x1900 XTX with GDDR4, so everyones snapping up the x1900 XT's and clocking em up to XTX's as they cheaper for the same performance, and when the x1900's are gone, x1950's still wont shift as everone will pay the extra £6 odd as said to have a card that totally destroys it, x1950 is crap, as said its just an x1900 XTX with GDDR4, and the GDDR4 was only added to the x1900 so ATi could be the first to have a GDDR4 card out, all it is. :p

I bet they just sat there looking at an x1900 and said, you know something, we could stick GDDR4 on there, and a fancy cooler, and no one will be none the wiser, and then we'll shift shed loads as we have the first GDDR4 card out, and everyone will think its new, when its still really an x1900, its just a shame everyone knows this. :D

dunno about this tactic. but im starting to see the benefits of the x1900xt i have now.

forcing AA in a game called Just Cause so it runs at 1600x1200 with 2xAA and HDR is amazing.
