Just got my new machine with one of these installed, but its making a serious grinding type noise. My thoughts are that the fan is hitting something but i gave it few spins when powered off and theres nothing.

Any help?

If Is it easy to stop the fan whilst running with a rubber on end of a pencil, daft question are you sure it is comming form the PSU.

Might worth speaking to the place of purchase.

Sounds like a bad fan, if the fans in plan view while it's on, use a cotton bud on the central hub and stop it spinning.

If the sound stops it's a dodgy fan and you should get the PSU replaced.

I had a noise problem with my Coolermaster 700m, although mine was an electrical noise. I sent it back via RMA, and the new one did the exact same thing. In the end I gave up, ditched it, brought a Be Quiet! and it's completely fine now.

Yours might not be the problem I had, but I would not rule anything out.

Not recommended to do, but my CM I-Green 600W was doing this the other day, it was fine when I had it hotwired running nothing. However as soon as it had to power anything there would be a grinding noise coming from it (not other fans were running in the PC). I just opened it up chucked the fan in the bin and put a Lian Li default fan and then plugged it into the mobo and ran it at a 7v profile. There's such a difference now :)
