Hey guys,

Hope I've posted this in the right section, not sure if it's cooling or case related. Please move it if it's in the wrong place :)

I've just purchased the case for Christmas and after reading about on the forum I purchased 2x140mm and 1x120mm Fractal fans to replace the ones in the case as I want it to be quite quiet. My question is in what config should I have them set up? Obviously the front 140mm needs to be intake but what about the back 120mm and the top mounted 140mm? I've got an arctic 7 pro freezer at the moment which is blowing air toward the back of the case so should it be that the 120mm is exhaust and the top mounted 140mm is intake or the other way around?

Also, I've got a 9800gt which is blowing air downwards so should the bottom mounted PSU be fan facing up (thus drawing in hot air from the GFX and pushing it out the back) or down (drawing cool air in from the bottom and leaving the gfx card air to rise to top)?

Cheers for any help.

I personally have 2 140mm fans up top, 1 120mm at the back and a 140mm at the front. All Fractals and all very quiet. Great cooling and very happy! :D

I've got the 690, but not the 690 advanced. My PSU fan faces down through the bottom grill of the case. Rear 120mm fan is exhaust. Top 120mm fan is exhaust. Front 120mm fan is intake. Bottom 120mm fan next to PSU is intake. Side cover 120mm is intake. GPU 120mm fan directly above PSU is blowing upwards onto aftermarket cooler, and a 120mm fan is blowing onto aftermarket CPU cooler facing the rear exhaust. Very low temps.

Invertigo, won't the rear fan being intake cause issues with the Freezer Pro pushing air out toward it?

Smeaney, how are your fans setup? What's intake and what's exhaust?

What about the PSU with the gfx blowing downwards, any ideas?

Cheers for the ideas guys!

I have mine set up with 6 fans, but its the same idea. Front and rear fans are intakes, top and rear fans exhausting

He might of mean't "Front and Bottom fans" being intake:

Yeah, slight typo! Front and bottom are my intakes. I also have the modular HDD cage removed like the photo above, so I have 2 120mm's at the bottom

Ah cool, thanks for the info on that guys!

What do you reckon about the PSU? Fan facing down or up? I'll probably have it facing down and just let the hot air from the GFX rise to the top 140mm fan.
