Hi, been trying to decide on a case for ages now. It seems really hard to find a case with EVERYTHING you want from it. There always seems to be one deal breaking feature missing.

The case I've finally decided on is the 690 II from Coolermaster. However the one feature missing which I would like is a small side window so I can see my sexy H50 and mobo working away inside.

I've thought about modding one myself by there doesnt seem an awful lot of room left at the top of the panel after you cut out the top, side fan intake.

I was just wondering if the old 690 windowed panel would fit the new mark 2 ?
as I'm pretty sure you can buy those separately.

I've heard CM may be bringing out a windowed version of the MKII but I can't really wait that long.

I've just purchased the CM690 11 to go with my build, and imo even without a window the case looks so awsome it didn't even cross my mind, I've been through so many cases in the past, with and without a window, and to be honest I don't rly care anymore..

rubbish ! Gonna get it anyway and maybe they will bring one out at a later date. Looks like a spanking case without one either way

Apparently so, coming from someone who didn't own version1, i'd consider this a very good case so far, no complaints, and the paint deffo isn't an issue on this unlike views i've heard on the Fractal designs.

I have just order the case which is due tomorrow. According to CoolerMaster a side widow is to be available this month in the States.

My CoolerMaster has arrived. Looking through the instructions there is a diagram of the proposed side window; it doesn’t look as attractive as the previous version. Maybe it looks better in the flesh.

Check it out on page at http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/upload/download/193/files/CM 690 II Advanced manual-0106.pdf

I don't wanna be controversial... but I really don't like that window (YT link). I like a window to be as simple design as possible, without fans stuck smack in the middle of it. Still, each to their own I guess ;)

I am of the same opinion. I want to be able to look through a window, not have to peer around gubbins or have an unsightly fan and associated wires staring me in the face. I might buy the windowed panel anyway and put my own sheet acrylic window in myself.

Good idea Darkst4r - good luck with that. If I buy a case with a window, it's because I wanna see in and be reminded of how much money I've wasted on soon to be outdated components :D

I think you Guys are right, take closer look at Cooler Master USA http://cmstore.coolermaster-usa.com/highres_ex.php?products_id=460&cat=18_32_39&num=1. The have seriously dropped the ball on this upgrade when compared to the original.
Nevertheless, my standard panel has quite an attractive transparent quality due to the two 140 mm fan apertures. Gosh, it is so quiet in comparison to my old 690, you would think those holes would release a lot of internal fan noise especial because I am overclocking an AMD 955 to 3.7 GHz idling at 29oC and 41oC at load.

I see the side window (Part Number: RA-692-KWN1) is now widely available in the States for $24.99 which will no doubt be on sale hear at £19.99, the usual rip off. Mind you, I paid £15 plus p&p for the Dominator I Side Window 4 years ago it a pity it cannot fit the Dominator II.

This is the first decent picture I have seen which gives you a better idea of what it will look like on my rig. I think it is growing on me, it is not as unattractive as I first thought.
