Hi,

I have this great case which creates an annoying problem. Most of the times when the cpu works hard, the temperature rises and the fans of the system (cpu, vga etc) rev up, then there is a vibration noise: the case "rattles" for a few seconds, then stops, then rattles again and so on.
In the beggining I solved it by putting some small sticky pads between the side door and the case. After some days of no noise the problem came back. I can solve it for a few minutes if I press the door case but that doesn't last for long.

Any ideas?
I just cant believe it how such a wonderful case has this cheap annoying problem!!

Try and work out which fan/fans are causing the vibration by isolating them one at a time and checking for the vibration. You can fit the anti-vibration silicone mounts which will help and potentially remove the fan grilles if you find one vibrating badly.

Hard drives vibrate too and can often create resonance through a poorly dampened chassis. I sometimes suspend mine on 2-3mm bungee elastic cord.

Sorting one noisy component tends to lead to te next.

Isn't that as it depends on fan RPMs.
Althought it could be also resonance between vibration of HDD and fan as this kind of intermittent vibration rattle is sign of resonance between two vibration sources.


IIRC few people have had vibration noises also from top mesh or something in top so try putting some weight on there.
 
On my previous case with a cheap unbranded PSU (yes I know now) with noisy 80mm fan I had dreadful vibrations though the case. My solution was to stick a plastic highlighter pen ...

...under one side of the case. Eventually I bought a OCZ unit, rubber feet and a PSU gasket kit and suspended my hard drives to stop it happening. The case was thin metal and was pants upon reflection.

Not sure about the CM 840.
