Hello,

A bit of a strange first post here... I am near to building a new system and looking around I have pretty much decided on the CM-690 II after confirming it can indeed fit the huge Noctua NH-D14. I like the looks of the case best and would rather have avoided going to a massive full tower if can be avoided.

I am aware that the ATI HD5970 almost does not fit in this case (lots of places say it doesn't fit but I found a picture of one jammed in!). My (probably stupid) question is whether with future graphics cards (i.e. the 6000 series), that size will likely become the norm and therefore I could not upgrade anymore? I'm going with the ATI HD5850 currently and would probably always go for a mid-runner rather than the high end card, so if it's likely future mid-runner 6000 series cards and beyond won't be massively bigger than the 5850 then I'd just go ahead.

Thanks :)

Personally I cant see them getting too much bigger, as the bigger ones are on the edge of needing supports because of the length and weight. You never know though.

Thanks for the reply :)

Something else I'm wondering about now is whether the stock fans will be good enough. So many cases I look at have the potential for great airflow, but I'd rather not have to spend additional money replacing all the stock fans + adding more.

Stock fans are usually decent nowdays. Not brilliant, but definatly usable in my opinion (still using the stock fans on my CM Storm Scout)

Thanks again. I see from various reviews that they are more geared towards silence than performance, but my thinking was that with the Noctua NH-D14 the fans might be less important. I guess I'll just get it and then if needed I can set about replacing fans later down the line.
