Hi,

Bought one of these today https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cooler-master-200mm-mega-flow-fan-blue-fg-015-cm.html

Might sound stupid but how do I get these connected properly? The fan only has a female fan socket and 2 psu connectors so ive had to connect it to the psu (and also can have the blue light then). The only issue is its so loud and by the description and 2 reviews on here, they say these are silent?

Matt

I just watched an unboxing, and the fan should have a standard 3 pin fan connector that is plugged into a molex adapter.

You can remove the molex adapter and plug the 3 pin connector into your motherboard's fan headers which should allow you to control the speed through its software (depends on the motherboard though). What motherboard do you have?

Realistically though, that fan shouldn't be very loud at all even when plugged in via molex, what other fans do you have that this is being compared to? THe fan itself may need replacing...

It should have a standard 3 pin connector. I have several of these (not all in use) and every one has a normal 3 pin connector. They are not silent by any means but it is the airflow that makes them noisey as they shift so much air and at full speed they really roar. I have one fitted as my side intake and turned down to 540rpm it's just about silent while still shifting plenty of air.

Just checked for you and yes, there is a visible drop in brightness between full speed and 480rpm. If you are worried about led brightness though I suggest you look at other 200mm fans as there is no way I could live with this at full chat all the time. I have a Bitfenix Spectre Pro 200mm in the roof of my case and that seems to be brighter at 480rpm than the Megaflow. It's still not as bright as when it's at full speed though. I have a 200mm Aerocool lightning in the front of my case and that's a lot dimmer when turned down to 480rpm. I guess I prefer quiet while still having subtle led lighting.

Pasty - how many of these megaflows you got?
I'm going to be running 4 of them shortly... didn't SEEM that loud but... I take it a fan controller will definitely be a worth purchase? (sans motherboard control) :)

I have 4x Megaflows in total (2x blue, 1x red, 1x with the leds removed). In this pc I have one 200mm Megaflow (side panel intake), one 200mm Spectre Pro (roof exhaust) and one 200mm Aerocool Lightning (front intake). At 30mm thick the Megaflows are too thick to fit any of the other positions in my current case. My previous build had a pair of 200mm Megaflows but I have always had them on fan controllers as they are just too noisey else. I think it's the noise from the sheer amount of air they shift rather than the actual fan being noisey. At 480rpm all my fan's are just about completely silent.
